seraglia (se-ra-lee-a) is a couture house that designs and produces hand made jewellery and adornments to order and in very limited editions.

Inspired by the decadent globe trotting that exploded during the 19 th and the early 20 th century, seraglia also represents a return to the romance and attention to detail of the works made during this time. Folk and tribal art and the east-meets-west culture of the seraglios of Byzantium have also been major inspirations.

couture forever
Posted in about on 03.15.06 09:55

Haute couture clothing is stitched entirely by hand, and uses no zips, iron on interfaces and other short cuts. If it is looked after well, a good couture suit will last generations, and keep it’s value- the hemline may go up or down, and the cut may be adapted but it’s always wearable.

seraglia has a similar philosophy. The jewellery is hand constructed using wiring, chains, and stitches, with minimal use of glue or soldering. This modular approach creates enduring heirloom pieces that can be more easlily repaired or adapted as fashions change. Future generations may add new elements to these designs with ease.
